Julyo a platinum eclectic globetrotting artist

Italian-born music composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist JULYO has been venturing into the music industry world for over two decades. Born in Genoa, Italy, and raised playing gigs with local bands in Italy since 1996, Julyo’s music career started at a very young age as a classical guitar student of Japanese guitarist Katsumi Nagaoka and a regular session player at the legendary Orange Studios in Genoa.

The turning point in Julyo’s career was in 1999. After performing for a fashion show featuring designs by fashion icons Krizia, Gabrio, and Vittorio Mariano, he recorded his first solo LP called “Versus.” The 19 instrumental tracks LP, independently released and produced, brought Julyo’s eclectic guitar playing abroad, securing a gig at New York’s legendary Milk Studios and a recording session with American singer/songwriter Steven Stewart in Helsinki, Finland.

Between 2000 and 2003, Julyo studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA, with jazz guru Charlie Banacos and guitarists Mick Goodrick, Mark White, and Scott Tarulli. 2004 and 2008 have been years of intense touring and residencies as DJ at venues like SeOne Club in London, UK, and MOJOs in Tokyo, Japan.

Julyo has been incredibly proficient as a music producer, working with artists in many genres ranging from hip hop to rock and even Latin and EDM. Julyo’s music has been featured in thousands of TV commercials and several award-winning movies like Fukushame (2013) and Photosonic (2006).

Between 2010 and 2019, Julyo has collaborated and performed with a wide range of artists, from pop icons Take That (live performance on the Ryan Tubridy Show on RTE, Ireland) to Portuguese fado singer Paulo Bragança.

Julyo solo guitar albums have reached platinum status in Bulgaria, Portugal, and Hungary, followed by live performances at the WOFA World Music Festivals in Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Bulgaria, Hungary, and the Netherlands.

In 2016, Julyo worked on successful side projects: LoFi Jazz with Dario Rodighiero – You can read about Dario HERE – and numerous collaborations with Italian label Keep Hold Srl., continuing working on the follow up to his successful solo record “Mediterraneo,” initially released in 2016.
