Fusion Murga – Creativity, inclusion and joy

Fusion Murga returned this week with a night that summed up everything this collective has built since 2022. The Dublin based group marked another year of collaborations, workshops and open door creativity with a premiere of a new videoclip, an early look at a documentary style project planned for next year and a light hearted red carpet moment. No Christmas songs in sight.

Murga is a form of musical theatre known for rhythm, collective storytelling and sharp humour. Fusion Murga takes these roots and blends them with physical theatre, street performance, choir work, improvisation, acting and percussion. In just a few years it has offered more than 150 workshops and nurtured a community of more than 80 artists and supporters across and beyond Ireland.

At the centre of the project is an ethos of access and shared authorship. More than 20 members were involved in this year’s videoclip and the group continues to move with the same collective energy that shaped its early days. For the artists involved the space is built on expression without judgement and on multilingual voices moving together.

Pinocchio Magazine comments: Fusion Murga celebrates and confirms the unique and lively style of this eclectic collective of artists of every kind. Fusion Murga is not a simple showcase of different artistic workshops. It is the idea of creating a parallel space free from judgement where everyone can participate to express themselves.
