The Italian Institute of Culture in Dublin, in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Dublin, opened its doors on June 30 to a photographic exhibition celebrating the 80th anniversary of women’s right to vote in Italy. The project traces the journey of female emancipation and the achievements that transformed Italian society from the post-war period to the present day.
The event is a great cultural initiative for the Italian Institute of Culture in Dublin, which organized the exhibition in direct collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Dublin. The collection itself was created by the ANSA News Agency under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, pulling direct from ANSA’s extensive historical archives.
The opening night featured introductory remarks by the Italian Ambassador, Nicola Faganello, alongside the Director of the Italian Institute of Culture, Michela Linda Magrì. A deeply moving highlight of the evening was a personal testimony from Corinna Salvadori Lonergan, Emeritus Fellow at Trinity College, who shared the poignant memory of her own mother going to vote in the historic 1946 institutional referendum.

The public can visit the exhibition for free in the Bellini Hall at the Italian Institute of Culture until August 31, 2026. The display is open during standard office hours, specifically from 10.00 to 13.00 and from 15.00 to 17.00, with all photographic captions provided in both Italian and English.
