On October 28, Rai Italia’s Casa Italia dedicated a segment to Ireland, giving space to those who bring Italian stories abroad. Among the guests were Gaia Garofalo, spokesperson for Radio Irlanda, and Chiara Viale, writer, director, and producer who has lived in Ireland since 2015.
Being hosted by Rai Italia confirms the established role of Radio Irlanda as the voice of Italians in Ireland and as a growing cultural community that connects the two countries.
Run entirely by volunteers, Radio Irlanda broadcasts every Wednesday from 9 to 10 p.m. on Dublin South FM 93.9. It is more than a radio program: it is a shared space where Italians and Irish listeners exchange stories, ideas, and creativity. Artists, writers, musicians, and professionals from both cultures take part, keeping the dialogue alive.
The station collaborates with the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Dublino, Com.It.Es Irlanda, and the Italian-Irish Chamber of Commerce, and participates in major events such as FILI, the Italian-Irish Literature Week, and NICE, the International Film Festival.
Among its main projects is Panorama, created together with Pinocchio Magazine to showcase artists living in Ireland. The different editions of Panorama have been held in major and prestigious venues such as the Italian Institute of Culture and the National Library of Ireland. Pinocchio magazine is very proud to be one of the creators of this project, which continues to connect audiences and artists.

Radio Irlanda also organizes Rumore, a festival bringing Italian music to Dublin pubs through nights dedicated to hits from the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. These events strengthen a sense of belonging and community among Italians and Irish people alike.
As Gaia said on Casa Italia, radio helps people feel close even from afar. For many Italians in Ireland, Radio Irlanda is not just a station but a familiar voice that keeps the community together.
