On Wednesday, 3 September 2025, the National Library of Ireland hosted the third chapter of Panorama: Visual Landscapes of Ireland, a project by Radio Irlanda and Pinocchio Magazine. Panorama is a simple yet powerful concept: bringing art and culture into cultural institutions — libraries, museums, national institutes — and connecting visual artists with these spaces. It provides a stage for artists to showcase their talent outside commercial circuits or market-driven logic.
The NLI offered outstanding collaboration and a remarkable venue. The Joly Lecture Theatre, opened recently, provided an intimate setting with excellent sound and image quality, allowing the audience to fully immerse themselves in the film. The initiative attracted great interest, with tickets selling out a week before the event.
The evening opened with an introduction and a presentation of The New Music, directed by Chiara Viale, featuring an original punk-influenced soundtrack. The soundtrack includes several piano pieces especially composed by David Sangster, a musician living with EOPD, who generously donated his composition for the project. All proceeds from the event go directly to Early Onset Parkinson’s Disease (EOPD Ireland). The screening (1h 25m) was followed by an interesting presentation from Leonardo Biagini from NLI, who gave a brief overview of punk history in Ireland and highlighted the Library’s unique collection of zines and underground publications.

A Q&A session with four guests — director Chiara Viale, lead actor Cilléin Mc Evoy, producer and director of photography Philip Kidd, and EOPD.ie co-founder Joe Condon — offered further insights into the film and its themes.

The third chapter of Panorama was a success, confirming the strength of the project. Pinocchio Magazine is proud of Panorama, a platform that supports art and artists, showcasing new creative voices in collaboration with cultural institutions.
