Kiruu, the Irish-Tanzanian artist known for blending cultures and sounds, has unveiled the official music video for his Afro-pop single Mbingu. Shot in Brooklyn, New York, the video creates a vivid contrast between the dynamism of urban life and the stillness of the natural world, bringing a new visual dimension to the song’s message.
Released on 18 July 2025, Mbingu — which means “heaven” in Swahili — is a vibrant anthem that celebrates nature and calls for its protection. Directed by Andrew Persons, the video follows Kiruu through the streets of Brooklyn, visually weaving together city scenes and natural elements to suggest a deeper harmony between the two.
Produced by Cork-based musician Cian Sweeney, the track is a multilingual fusion of English, Spanish, and Swahili. It’s driven by a catchy Lingala-style guitar riff and interspersed with spoken messages about nature from voices around the globe, all building to a layered, melodic crescendo.
Kiruu explains: “The video is a visual journey through Brooklyn which brings the natural world and the city together. It’s a visual experience that reminds us nature is always there, even in unexpected places, and we must cherish it.”

With its blend of Afro-pop, world music, and lyrical storytelling, Mbingu offers an uplifting and thoughtful experience. Kiruu’s artistic identity is shaped by his roots in Tanzania and Ireland and his years spent in Spain. His music crosses borders, languages, and styles — always grounded in sincerity and a sense of exploration.
His 2019 debut album Super Feo Express received acclaim from outlets such as Nialler9, Hotpress, and Pinocchio Magazine, establishing him as a distinctive and boundary-pushing voice in Ireland’s music scene.
Pinocchio Magazine writes about Mbingu: “We’re glad to continue telling the story of Kiruu’s free and sincere journey. This new music video adds another piece to the beautiful and unpredictable mosaic of his art.”
